Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains how heyEvie collects, uses, and protects your personal data. We have written it to describe what the app actually does, not what we wish it did.
Important: Evie is an AI companion. All conversations are with an artificial intelligence character, not a real person. Evie is designed to feel authentic and remember your conversations, but she is powered by AI technology.
1. Pseudonymous by Design
heyEvie keeps your account information (email, subscription) and your conversation data (messages, memories, diary, relationship state) in separate database tables. The two are linked on our servers so you can access your data after reinstalling the app and so we can honor your export and deletion requests.
We do not use this linkage for advertising, analytics, or sharing with third parties.
2. Account Required
Using heyEvie requires creating an account. We collect:
- - Email address for authentication, password recovery, subscription management, and important product communications
- - Authentication credentials managed by Supabase (we never see your password)
- - Subscription and purchase records for billing and entitlement
- - Trial status to manage your free trial
You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time via Settings → Delete My Data.
3. Information We Collect

Conversations

Account Data

Usage Analytics

4. How We Use Your Information
We use your data to:
- - Generate personalized AI responses

We do not sell your data.
5. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored on managed cloud infrastructure (Supabase / Postgres):
- - At-rest encryption. Data is encrypted on disk at our hosting provider
- - In-transit encryption. All API requests use HTTPS / TLS
- - Access control. Routes that read your data require an authenticated session token
- - Internal access. Authorized personnel can access user data when investigating bugs or responding to support requests, subject to internal access controls
6. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as you use the Service:
- - Conversation history: Retained until you delete it
- - Memories and diary entries: Retained until account deletion
- - Relationship progress: Retained until account deletion
- - Analytics data: Retained for up to 12 months in pseudonymized form
- - Purchase history: Retained as required for financial records
- - Abuse-prevention marker: After you delete your account, we keep a one-way hashed form of your email address (which cannot be reversed back to your email and contains no readable personal data). We use it only to prevent repeated free-trial sign-ups, on a legitimate-interest basis.
7. Your Rights
Under GDPR, CCPA, and similar privacy regulations, you have the right to:
Access Your Data
- - Export all your data at any time via Settings → Export My Data
- - Receive a complete copy in JSON format
- - Review all stored conversations, memories, and relationship data
Delete Your Data
- - Permanently delete all your data via Settings → Delete My Data
- - Removal is immediate and irreversible
- - All conversations, memories, diary entries, and relationship progress will be erased
- - Your account is also deleted; the linkage between account and conversations is severed in the same operation
Data Portability
- - Download your data in a machine-readable format
- - Take your data with you if you choose to leave
8. Third-Party Services
When you use heyEvie, your conversation text is sent to AI providers to generate responses, extract memories, detect safety concerns, and synthesize voice. These providers process your data under their own privacy policies, linked below.
Supabase
- - User authentication, database hosting, password reset emails

xAI / Grok
- - Provides the AI language model for Evie's primary conversational responses
- - Processes conversation text to generate responses

Fish Audio
- - Provides voice synthesis for Evie's voice
- - Processes Evie's response text to generate audio

Cartesia
- - Backup voice synthesis provider

Sentry
- - Error tracking and performance monitoring
- - We strive not to send conversation content to Sentry; technical metadata and identifiers may be sent for debugging

PostHog

RevenueCat

9. Children's Privacy
heyEvie is intended for users 18 years of age or older.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. The app contains mature themes including emotional and romantic content that is not appropriate for minors.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Changes will be posted within the app, and your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
